Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 18, 2012 12:29 pm Recently i have been experiencing a continual banging noise eminating from my roof at night, it can get loud enough to wake up the family and seems to pulse or surge, as in it goes quiet and then starts banging or rattling quietly at first getting louder and then it fades away again. This will go on for up to ten minutes or more and then go quiet for a few minutes before starting again, it normally starts a couple hours after the sun has gone down and stops once the sun comes up. At first i thought it was something wrong with the ducted aircon but now i realise that this started not long after i got solar panaels installed on the roof. Has anyone got any idea what this might be and how i can stop it as it driving the wife crazy, is it possibly coming from the frame holding the solar panels contracting at night and vibrating through the roof joist. Please help, happy wife equals happy life and mines none to happy at the moment..... You should be able to quickly find the source of the issue Re: Banging noise in roof at night 6Nov 20, 2012 10:27 am Check your gutters weren't damaged or moved when the installers climbed up on your roof. We had a loose gutter clip on our porch and it used to vibrate and bang when the wind blew in a certain direction. I agree with dvestate, get up there and have a look to see what part is moving when it shouldnt be. - MrsT Brought first house in 2008. Renovated...a LOT. Built in 2013. Nope, only on the inside, I've literally has my ears to the brick outside and can't hear anything. I can sort of 'reset' the noise by pressing firmly on the studs.
