Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 10, 2012 7:47 pm We have a major mozzie problem - I have already been around the yard and disposed of any still water in which they could be breeding. Despite this we always seem to get a couple in the house - does anyone have a good solution for this? I have noticed that I can see sunlight through the wall ventilation holes - could this be a problem (i.e. should the ventilation holes have some covering over them? Is your's an old house? I reckon some fine mesh over the vents might be the way to go? In our house we have suspicions they get down the bathroom exhausts. We've checked for standing water but didn't think of checking the gutters so thanks SaveH2O! Wish we could do something about the junkyard next door, there's stuff laying all over the yard. Re: Getting rid of mosquitos 9Nov 17, 2012 7:38 am http://www.health.vic.gov.au/environmen ... supply.pdf What other problems might affect my water supply? Mosquitoes often breed in water tanks. Screening inlets and overflow outlets with fine mesh is the best option to prevent mosquitoes from entering your tank. If mosquitoes are already breeding in your tank, you can add a small amount of domestic kerosene or liquid paraffin. Use one teaspoon of kerosene in a 1 kilolitre water tank or 3 teaspoons in a 10 kilolitre tank (double these amounts if you are using liquid paraffin). Industrial or commercial kerosene should not be used, and kerosene may not be suitable for use in tanks constructed of or lined with plastic. If in doubt check with your tank manufacturer.
