I want to put up a wall between our living room and the front door of our new condo... i was wondering what the best way is to do this... i was going to construct a wood frame using metal brackets for the studs ..shooting nails into the concrete floors and screwing the one side of the frame into the dry wall with aluminum anchors... then put up dry wall onto the newly constructed wall. .. here is a picture of what i'm trying to do...i'm fairly handy.. but i have never done any framing... what would the best way to build this wall so it is solid and secure?.. my main concern is the strength of the wall. .. we have not hanging anything on this wall.. it's just a partition your opinions would be really appreciated... That is, when you push against the top of it then you want to prevent it wobbling all over the place.
What you will find is that the frame will be very wobbly, but as soon as you fix the sheeting to it with plenty of nails then it will stiffen up fine. In fact, I would use a cement sheet, not a drywall as it is a much stiffer material and hence make the partition more rigid. While nailing it off it is a good idea to brace the other side or get someone to brace it for you so you don't shake it to death while nailing off accross the top edge. Nice drawing by the way! Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 1327 because its not being managed properly.
