Hello. I'm a new member here so pls excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong area on the forum...
My hubby and I are currently building a new home in Melb and we're nearing completion stage. Last time we went out to see the house we noticed our gas meter had been installed and it's in the middle of our front yard, which is not exactly complimentary to the facade. Our neighbours who are building with the same company all have their meters tucked neatly off to the side, but still along the house front. No idea why ours is smack bang in the middle.
We've talked to our builders who say the location of gas meters has nothing to do with them and told us to ring their distributor. We rang the distributor who said it's the builders plumber who nominates where the gas meter is to be installed. We've also talked to the energy company who fitted the gas meter and one of their reps told us the plumber signs off on the location, and a different rep of the company said it's the distributor who chooses the location. What I want to know is, who exactly is responsible for the location of a gas meter? And has anyone building a new home had their gas meter placed in a odd position, and how did you go about rectifying the issue? I feel like we're getting the run around and aren't too sure where to go from here. I'd appreciate any advice.
