Originally we got put onto the Carrum Downs exchange with a 9782 number, then moved to Lyndhurst on an 8782 number but can only get ADSL1 or Telstra wholesale services - who are you with, and how did you establish you could get ADSL2+, via an address check initially or the phone number check ? We're with TPG for at least 6 months, will see how it goes, then maybe AAPT unlimited, although since they've been bought out by iiNet, there's been speculation they might drop it. Hey Paul, based on the responses I'm not entirely sure if the phone number determines your exchange location... I called Telstra to organize the phone connection and internet bundles and what services they could give me. I was calling all the other ISP's around too and they couldn't guarantee that I wouldn't be on the RIM. But when I was talking to the Telstra rep, they guaranteed that I would be able to get ADSL2+ and if not then I would get all my setup costs waived. After a bit of stuffing about (internet connections request not being put into their systems) they got me connected (ended up priority service which took less than a day to get connected). They also made a note in their systems to not put me on the RIM. So it seems the Telstra connections in the estate of turned out well (they have some good bundles now too), I'd be interested to see what other ISP ADSL2+ speedtests come out like (ie. iinet, internode) ---------------------------------------- Building the PD Lisbon 24 http://www.porterdavis.com.au/#homeviewer/lisbon/24 Blog of our progress. http://lisbon24.blogspot.com/ Homeone build thread https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28665 Internet ! 1163Aug 20, 2010 5:47 pm Timmy.... As soon as we get into the house, I'll be able to give you an idea of what I'm getting on TPG ADSL1 at the very most, however I have looked at the Telstra side of things, and yes - they are far more competitive than they were about 12 months ago. I've only got 6 months with TPG so I'll see how it goes first...the only downside to Telstra is that they charge for uploads (which is the bulk of my file sending and VOIP calls !). I got the pair gain removed by TPG but their systems never showed ADSL2+ capable - only iPrimus did (and Telstra). That's handy to know about being asked NOT to be put on the RIM. Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1164Sep 20, 2010 5:28 pm Hi All Thought place a post here. ![]() I was checking the Marriott waters design guide lines and rules i may have missed something just want to know whether we can have front fence maybe 2 feet tall? or a 3 or 4 brick height wall in front? Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1166Sep 21, 2010 11:03 am ok. thats a bummer then i have left over bricks ![]() thanks for the reply anna Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1167Sep 21, 2010 11:06 am I think you can have a small retaining wall but not a fence.... is that right? Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1168Sep 21, 2010 12:31 pm ![]() I think you can have a small retaining wall but not a fence.... is that right? hmm this what i need too. + add post box in bricks. last time when i was at MW i could not find any house that had something front. Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1169Sep 21, 2010 12:36 pm We're thinking of doing hedges or something similar for the front. As we speak, our side and back fences are (FINALLY !) being put in...it's taken 3 friggin' months ! We've also been offered an upgrade on the ADSL to faster with TPG - maybe the Lyndhurst exchange has been given a boost ! Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1171Sep 23, 2010 12:40 pm I just got adsl 2+ hooked up with tesltra no dramas looks like I could of got it ages ago what a waste of $129 a month with telstra wireless when I didnt need it loving the fast speeds again ! Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1172Oct 11, 2010 9:16 pm Well, it's now a month and a week since we moved in, and we're getting closer to the garden side of things - it's the biggest job yet ! The one thing we're noticing (and it's something you can't tell until you move in) : THE TRAFFIC ! Unfortunately Boland Drive is becoming the road of choice to get from the Westernport Highway to Evans Rd/Thompsons Rd, and with the exception of the weekends, it's non stop. It's not so much the burny cars (although we've seen a few Commodores fishtailing and revving like crazy), it's the volume. I've noticed a lot of it is tradie's cars and trucks/vans, so hopefully when Stage 9 is settled that will cut it down. What needs to happen is: * Glasscocks Rd needs to be extended (as it says in the Melways, 'proposed') through to Sth Gippy * Evans Rd needs to be completed through to Sth Gippy. Glasscocks moreso - because once people come from Westernport, there's nowhere else to go but through Mellington (just as bad for them too), then the rat runs and ours. With either or one of those roads finished it will make it easier to live - i've never lived on a busy road before, and it's a bit distrurbing, and making it hard to sleep past 7am on a weekday (or do voice overs without the rumbling of cars all the time). We're thinking of getting StopNoise windows (a second double glazed window that goes on the inside of the frame), but it's hellishly expensive ![]() In terms of the school, that's generating enough noise of it's own, but that'll be over by Term 1, 2011 - and I would think that those 40km/hr limits would be imposed around the school. The Casey Highway Patrol have been sitting at Boland a fair bit getting speeders - let's hope it sends a message, eh ? Maybe speed humps should be the way to go ? ![]() Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1173Oct 12, 2010 9:16 am I'd love to know how we can request more policing of the speeding along Boland. We've only been living here for 2-3 weeks and almost every day on the way to work & back home I sit on 50km/h and get people speeding right up my a** and abusing me b/c I won't speed. Unless something is done there's going to be some major problems when the school opens in 3-4 months time and 40km/h limits are introduced. I walk the dog most mornings and at 6am there is car after car speeding and it gets pretty scary walking so close to the road and don’t even mention when I need to cross the road... I can see cars go around the bend on Boland (near Normac, stage 9) on almost 2 wheels b/c they're going so damn fast & I don't want to be there when someone loses control and mounts the curb...... I’ve also noticed that because there are so many people turning right at the round-a-bout on Glassocks other drivers are getting impatient waiting in the queue so they are turning right from the left lane (which is only meant to turn left & go straight). I don’t like sounding like a nag but there’s already enough accidents on the roads and we don’t need cars driving where they aren’t expected Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1174Oct 12, 2010 10:06 pm I honestly cant see volumes getting better until the intersection at Westernport and Thompsons is widened/fixed. With regard to speeding, its terrible, my partner was almost killed at the roundabout on Thompsons Rd walking home from the train station. A car lost control, slid and missed her by cms. When the primary school opens up, there will be kids everywhere which worries me. I too get tailgated and abused every time I jump on Boland - either that or almost slammed into as I turn onto Boland at the roundabout at the school because someone is flying and has to slam on the brakes! With these things, as what happened at Lynbrook, I very much doubt something will happen to fix it until someone dies, or a few accidents occur ![]() ICK So glad the building is over, never again. Loooove our house, but still not quite sure it was worth all of the stress they put us through! Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1175Oct 13, 2010 4:46 pm Hi there. One thing you can do to address the traffic problem, is approach the road engineer department at the Casey Council and bring your concerns to them. They should send someone down to look at the problem and perhaps recommend some solutions, such as traffic calming options. It is really bad. We haven't even moved into the area yet, but when we do pop down to see how things are progressing, we have seen quite a bit of speeding. Good luck with it all. Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1176Oct 17, 2010 6:39 pm Interesting topic about the traffic through the estate. Firstly, this is why we bought in a circuit, because we lived previously in Lynbrook on a road that was used as a rat-run because the council wouldn't put the connecting road through (and still hasn't). We also built a house this time with the master bedroom at the back and the kids rooms on the side - but you live and learn ![]() Secondly, hubby leaves for work at 5.30am most days and at that time in the morning he turns right at the traffic lights at the intersection of MW and Thompson Rd. But none of the cars want to stop at the red light. It gets to the point where hubby gets the green turning arrow, he creeps out into the intersection and the cars fly along, blast on the horn and abuse him. He points to the lights but it makes no difference. Absolutely crazy and got to the point where he now drives up through Melington and goes along Glasscocks to the roundabout. Even then he finds that cars don't want to slow down to stop and give way to a car turning right so they either nearly hit you or tail gate. The whole situation is appalling. It's not much better during the day either. Blog: http://bluemistkids.blogspot.com "Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, and professionals built the Titanic." Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1177Oct 23, 2010 4:33 pm This is an absolute failcake the way the roads have been designed around this area, I quite often hear hoon idiots booting it along Lyndhurst Blvd and some heros have done some burnouts along Boland Drive too. I didn't buy into Cranbourne cos of the bogan nature and plenty of hoons but now it seems like they've spread to Lyndhurst.... Re: Marriott Waters release --> Info / update center 1178Oct 23, 2010 4:35 pm On a more positive note, has anyone noticed the big display board where the old MW offices were, looks like it has been up dated to include the proposed retail centre design.
