I've noticed a airline crack in the render in the outside retaining wall. Was wondering what the best way to fix it would be. Chisel out the crack into a channel and fill it with something . .
Any help would be greatly appreciated

That would be the best to repair it with. One of our tradies left a small deep gouge in our wall and we were able to patch it with the bucket of premixed/coloured render leftover from ours. Colour and texture were a perfect match, being the same product as the original job, so you cant see were the gouge was. But can I just get a pre mix from a hardware store? I have dulux acratex over the render plus weathers shield so colour matching shouldn't be an issue . Just need to know how to patch it up. Re: hairline crack in rendered wall 4Sep 01, 2012 9:00 pm Hi NEWLYWEDS Our render finish maybe different to yours, it has 2 base layers of a render powder they mixed up by hand and applied, then a 3rd top layer of coloured render which came premixed ready to apply straight from the bucket. (which they left us some...it's "Hadrian Texture Trowel on") We patched only with this 3rd/top coat. Do you mean, you have render similar underneath ?, which is then covered in Dulux Acratex and a colour coat of Weather shield paint? Should be able to get Acratex from any Dulux agent, some hardware stores just may have to order it in. Would think you'd only need that and the paint to patch it, just have to be careful keeping the same original finish ...ie whether it was troweled on, rollered on, sprayed on..with a sand finish, scratch finish, texture finish etc Had a browse on the dulux site and saw there are many finish options available. It could be a slab issues also. Thanks mate, is there a standard off the shelf type breathable product I can apply DIY? Thanks 2 8214 Cheers. The painted render is a bit chalky to the touch. To prepare the surface for best adhesion, what would you recommend?
