G'day,
I'm an absolute newby in the world of home reno.
I've just bought my first house. The carpets are a shocker (its a fifty year old house). But under the carpets is good, solid hardwood. It will be a while before i can afford to sand the boards.
But I wondered if a short term measure is to take up the carpet, clean the boards and then wax them with a hired floor polisher. Obviously it won't look nearly as good as sanding the boards. But as a short term option, would this provide sufficient protection for the boards? Has anyone ever done this? Is it a dopey idea?
Cheers
