I'm building the house I need, not the house I want. This will save me a lot of money, and cleaning. If I need more room later on, I can extend the house or move on. Plus - 900m2 is plenty of room for outdoor gatherings. Re: Poll: Which is more desirable? 103Jul 29, 2009 1:29 pm edited by mod Hey Eager - or you are my husband who is organised but a car freak who keeps bringing home new "toys"  we have an oversized garage that will fit at least 8 cars plus the bar / powder room and all other paraphenalia that he keeps collecting.We were extremely fortunate to have the best of both worlds - a large house on a large block. But previously we had a more then comfortable 25sq home on a lovely roomy 900m block - which was gorgeous too. I think it is all about what you can afford and what you are comfortable with. Although land may have more value (depending on location), at the end of the day I want something nice to live in. By dream house I don't mean mansion either. As long as it is big enough for my partner, her son and I then that's big enough. Design and quality are definitely more important to me than just having heaps of space. We're building our first home together at the moment, and while it is by no means my dream house, it is definitely good enough for now. I'd love one day to be able to work with an architect in designing my dream house from scratch... maybe next time! Same with me, although I'm not really sure what my dream house would consist of to be honest. I only started thinking about buying a place last year and then January was the first time I had even considered building my own place and now I'm at lock up!!
