We're in a heritage street in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and we're looking for someone that has experience in dealing with heritage overlays and guidelines. I've tried looking online but there are few architects/designers that actually have websites or online portfolios to look at. The most common advice that we're read with regards to finding a architect/designer is to ask someone who has a house, building, or business designed that you like and ask them what working with the Architect was like. The only problem with this is that we don't know anyone who has recently built a house so we don't know where to start. Ideally, I prefer to look at website portfolio before contacting them to determine whether their design aesthetic is right for us but very few indenpendant architects have online portfolios.
