Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 25, 2012 7:51 pm I am currently building on a hill and had to cut into it to give myself a large area in front of my shed like courtyard/parking area as such, after digging i found only beach sand as a base i got a road base and stone and come up great but after big rains nearly 2 months ago water is still soaking through the ground and i cannot get rid of it. If anyone has any ideas would b greatly appreciated. I thought about digging a deep trench and filling with stone on the hill side of the cut and aggi pipe into the stream where it is a constant flow at the moment but would appreciate any ideas and help. Or you have a neighbour with storm water issues. Hillsides have a way of collecting more water than usual and it gathers in funny places. Are you close to the beach - would it be salt water? If so it will be affected by tides. Monitor and it will need to be poured over and drained when tide is right out. Additional engineering will be required depending where under the slab it is ie on the edge , right in the middle, over a garage??? If it is fresh water you may have some problems. Is your area your building in fully developed, or are you like the first house there?? How deep is your cut ? Did you hit a service when excavating that can't be seen?? Get back to me with some of the above and we will see what we can do. Re: Please help with my driveway soak 5Aug 08, 2012 5:25 pm MattC123 i am about 25 kms from the beach and it is fresh water. The cut is just for a driveway not for slab, my area is rural and i'm on 5 acres but the estate has been developed for nearly 20 years. the cut is around 10 feet and there is no service at all as we are on tanks. The water is traveling through sands underground down the hill and into my cut. I was thinking maybe of digging a trench and plastic downhill side and bottom fill with stone and sltted pipe and run down to my dam and any water under the trench should keep going. i am trying to add a picture but cant seem to get it on there. Then I'd concrete the area in front of the wall. Something like this Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Although I hate that crappy flexible ag pipe and would use the slotted 100mm pipe with a sock over it much easier to get consistent falls with it. I'd also put the pipe lower in the ground and give it good fall as well. Stewie Finally got the Soakwell at my house sucked out. Now I’m looking for ideas on how to hide it as it’s a bit of an eye sore.
