Repairing crack in ceiling and have backstrapped and intend to fill with base cote then paper tape and top coat.
Have limited experience of doing this and previously had difficulty with the taping, looks good when wet but not so good when dry.
I lay the tape on a bed of base coat then trowel from the middle out with a thin coat on top, but sometimes it looks "thick"
Should I just sand it down then put top coat on?
Realise it's just practice that's needed but as a DIYer you sometimes dont get enough practice to increase your skill level.
Any hints on applying tape expertly?
Would using cornice cement be easier for a novice?
A plasterer did tell me years ago there was another product he used for attaching paper tape but I dont recall what it was
