Here's the situation. We are trying to do a knockdown rebuild in an inner west suburb of Sydney. Our block is in a back lane. Sydney Water maps (from the 1890's) show that there is sewer and water running past our block. We have hooked up to the main sewer connection but the plumbers can't find the fresh water connection. I have rung Sydney Water heaps of times and they just tell me the same thing 'the maps says there is water it's near to sewer' but no plumber can locate it. Has anyone every had this situation before? Doesn't anyone know where to find pipes in relation to the sewer pipes form back in the 1090's?. What would the cost be to join up to the main road 40 metres away (digging up the lane in the process)? Thanks for your help. Building Standards; Getting It Right! Thank you for the generous offer.
