Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 18, 2008 2:41 pm After about 2 months from choosing the floorplan and options list, we were supposed to have our contract viewed and signed last 3-March-08. But just 2 days before the appointment date, a guy from Simnds called saying the meeting is cancelled because the contract isn't ready. Their reason is we had so many changes and revisions to the original floorplan that they got confused and re-sent it to the girl from the display homes to revise/rewrite. What?!? How come they didn't fix this during the 2 month's that we've been waiting?!?! Did they just do the contract 2 days before the meeting!!!?!?!? They said, don't worry, everything should be ready before site start which is supposed to be on May.
So we said ok. Do we have a choice? Now, I'm trying to get my CSO (Customer Service Officer) to give me a date on the next appointment. Also to give us a date on color selection. She was actually surprised that we haven't done our color selection. Hello?!?!! How can we have done our color selection, when you, our CSO haven't scheduled us for one!!! And there is no date for the contract signing until now!!! Honestly, I haven't even heard of our CSO's voice. I always get a voice mail of some operator saying that she's not available! And I only got 1 email reply form her after all the emails I sent. Everything is waiting for the contract... The bank needs a copy of the contract to finalize the amount for the loan. And the conveyancer needs a copy of the bank loan for them to start their work. This is just the beginning of building our home with Simnds. I wonder how much worse things are going to get when the building actually starts! How frustrating can you get... Delays galore!!!!! Re: Delays galore! 2Mar 18, 2008 3:24 pm The painful part for me building was the contract part, everything else was great.
it took them three goes to get my name correct . As frustraiting as it it is, I think a small delay on the contract where there are a lot of variations may be worth it. It may make the difference between getting it right the first time, and sending it back due to errors. At least they had the decency to call you. We are not with your builder but can empathise entirely it took us 7 months to get to sign a contract and we have still to choose our tiles for the wet areas! Now that construction ha started things are still moving slow see our blog at for more tales of woe martyme-ourhome.blogspot.com Hope things get better but don't count on it! Re: Delays galore! 4Mar 20, 2008 12:35 pm Hi Martyme... saw you blog... and I can see what you mean...
Simnds finally called and they said that the contract will be issued on 25-April-08... ANZAC day!!! At first we thought this is contract signing day... but it isn't. Finally they have set the contract signing on 29-April-08. Hope that most of the stuff in the contract is correct. It might might take another 2 months to correct if there are problems in the contract. When we asked why its taking this long... their reason in because we keep on adding options. According to them, the last option we added last 14-Feb-08 caused them to restart the drawing all over again. When I did some checking on what I added... it was a 3rd car garage... What the!?!? So adding the 3rd car garage made them decide to trash what they have started and start the drawing all over again.... nice!!! I was thinking... what if I requested to add a garden faucet... it might cause them to trash and re-start again... and another 2 months of wasted time waiting... really nice I have a tool that i have created that does this. Message me with your details and I will send it to you. 5 21530 Just to makea point about this, an approach that some people have found sucessful in negotiating these rises down, Is to provide some workings to the builder, specifying… 4 64723 In fairness nobody gave a crap about the ACCC and the gag clauses continued in the pro forma templates of a few other builders after the ACCC took on Wisdom, and more… 20 57350 |
