Hi ... can anyone tell me what the regulations in Vic are regarding a garage connected to a new timber clad house.
Can the garage be a continuation of the timber house or does the whole garage have to be brick or just the dividing wall.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks ... Nick

Garage is not a habitable room and the conversion is difficult if not impossible.
Some of the issues are fire rating on boundary, dampness coming through garage floor and dampness coming up walls, ceiling height, light, ventilation, smoke alarm)if converted into bedroom) and insulation.
Don't do anything without a building permit.
I report lot of illegal conversions found on my pre purchase inspections and the vendors will take a hit on their asking price.
There is example of extremely dangerous and illegal conversion on my blog.

I think he was asking can you have a garage attached to the weatherboard structure, not whether he can convert it to a bedroom.
However seek some design advice from your council, architect or similar.
