I am currently looking at building a studio and control room in my garage and deciding what materials would be cheapest to construct the wall between the two rooms for isolation. I am deciding to either go with hollow concrete block or double timber frame. I would prefer concrete block but will go with the timber frames if the blocks are too much.

Cost wise it would be a close run thing. Block wall have much greater mass and therfore better acoustics.

Hello Thanks for your response. By Hybrid I meant Steel wall frames with timber roof trusses. Evidently the wood roof trusses allows for tiled roofing. Thanks

The builders have said this gap is normal and that it doesn’t matter as the gap has been covered with a wooden trim. Hmmm still need them to put something between it I think.
