Browse Forums General Discussion Re: beechwood 2Aug 23, 2006 1:16 pm If you are talking about Beechwood homes, we built with them about 5 years ago. I have lived in Australia for nearly 9 years and they are the ONLY company I have come across to date with decent customer service. I would certainly recommend them - we build our first home with them in Sydney, moved to Perth and built with * and are currently building with Formula Homes in Vic.
Look with all builders it is a good idea to keep an eye on things as they progress but I found Beechwood to be quick to respond and keen to get things right. Looking at our experience with them overall, I would certainly build with them again and if they were in VIC with the plan/price we want, I would have gone with them. As for *, a few screwups and a little hard to contact/talk to the right people but the overall product was ok. Contents customer service was a bit poor but they did respond to pressure and they did put things right. Some egs. of screwups - supporting pillar built in wrong position, I-Beam sticking through roof tiles, wrong size HW tank -wrong colour and style of roof tiles etc All were eventually sorted out and the roof tiles got us a big compensation cheque - with alternative of complete replacement of tiles offered aswell. With Formula homes we have not yet started the building but there have been a few minor screwups with the variations and the drawings sent to council were wrong and had to be fixed up. I will be keeping a close eye on their work when it starts. A lot of unexpected costs have cropped up but to be fair, things like fire requirements ($6500) are not directly their fault but their pricing for these things is a bit steep - $2600 for about 40m of metal gutterguard. Council doesn't allow us to do it ourselves after the build so we are stuck. Anyway back to Beechwood, I found that they were not so bad with loseing intrest once you have signed the contract, their build quality was good, they didn't stuff up too often and they even threw in the rumpus bay windows free of charge as a thankyou for choosing them. They may have changed since I built with them but I hope not as they are the best I have come across in Australia. Don't forget to get your house name plaque:) Regarsds 3timesbuilda Re: beechwood 4Aug 29, 2006 8:26 pm Good luck with them. Half of our estate are actually! Structurally, they have stood up well over many years.
I know someone who works for them in NSW (a bit above a CSR role) and they reckon Beechwood are one of the best builders when it comes to customer service that they have worked for in the 20+ years they have been working in the industry, Re: beechwood 10Apr 04, 2008 7:25 pm Excellent news Budwah! In fact the house looked just as good 7yrs after it was built - which led to us selling within 6 days of putting it on the market.
We also went back to them to see about building a home this time however we would have had to make such major changes to their plans that it wouldn't have been economical, so ended up going with a private builder who designed the home to suit us specifically. I wouldn't have any issues recommending them. |
