Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 29, 2012 10:05 pm I have installed UTF laminate flooring and the newly installed floor has scratches on them which are visible when the lights are on. These are newly laid floors and the house has not even been lived in yet. Wonder if anyone here has installed them and have had similar issues? Cheers Re: UTF laminate flooring 2May 29, 2012 10:26 pm I have friends who had been through all sorts of issues with their newly laid UTF flooring through a volume builder. There were many, many scratches on the boards, and they hadn't moved in at that stage. After several meetings with the builder and the flooring company, it was eventually resolved and many boards were replaced. It was decided it looked as though it may have been the tradies who were installing the floor at the time whose knee protectors were scratching them. It was initially though to be either the volume builders cleaners, or other tradies in after the floor laying (they had to have some replastering and painting done). They are still not entirely happy, but are living with it at the moment... Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Sorry I'm confused, there are so many flooring brands out there at the moment. Re: UTF laminate flooring 4May 30, 2012 10:14 am Thanks Stormy. I had UTF representative come out to have a look along with the builder and the representative admitted that it is inherent to the product. First time I have seen a company claim their product is inferior. This was picked up in the final inspection and the house has not even been handed over to us yet. TashnStu77, by UTF I meant Unique Timber Flooring. Re: UTF laminate flooring 5May 30, 2012 2:23 pm Oh thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully they'll fix up your flooring. Re: UTF laminate flooring 7May 31, 2012 10:02 am Skyzie85, yes that is the one. They are great to see at the display but by the company representative's own admission the product is not that great. If given another chance I would stay away from it. Re: UTF laminate flooring 9Jun 02, 2012 9:27 am TashnStu77 Oh thanks for clearing that up. Hopefully they'll fix up your flooring. Unfortunately they are not going to replace them. Their argument is that they have already replaced half of the laid floor due to defects and so they are not going to replace any more. Wonder what kind of product it is if they had to replace half the floor straight after it was installed? And wonder how bad those defects were when they claim that the defects we picked are inherent to the product. The product laid out at our place, which as per the company rep is at its best, is very annoying to live in!! Re: UTF laminate flooring 11Oct 13, 2012 2:52 pm We are considering having the UTF Timpressions flooring in our home and i have come across this thread and am very concerned now.
