Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 15, 2012 1:25 pm Hi, We have had our pre-handover inspection booked for early tomorrow but today on driving past there is still a bit of work to be done - eg.. external painting, floor coverings, blinds, fly screens need to go on, some internal doors and door handles to be put on . I was expecting that the house would pretty much be complete by this stage? . Hoping the carpets and blinds at least go on today. Though on reading our information it does say that this inspection is to go through and make a note of the things that need completing before handover. When you had your final inspections was all work done? so it was just to go through and check it was all ok? thanks Re: Pre-Handover Inspection 2May 15, 2012 1:26 pm That's the plan ... but as you will see from this website a lot of people get their keys and there is still work to be done which can sometimes take months .... For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Pre-Handover Inspection 3May 15, 2012 1:30 pm hmm..thanks.. its not as exciting going through for final inspection thinking that there is still a lot of bits and pieces to do.. .. .. . The maintenance period should just be for work that actually needs fixing shouldn't it. not for things that are leftover jobs from the completion.. .. Re: Pre-Handover Inspection 4May 15, 2012 1:38 pm Exactly ... and there's so much to check you are bound to miss something even if you have an inspector with you ... hope yours goes well and there's not much left to do at handover!! Re: Pre-Handover Inspection 5May 30, 2012 8:39 pm You need a mind like a steel trap to get through it all. At pre-inspection I queried the colour of the bath taps compared to the spout. They were supposed to be almond ivory- (this was before SS came into fashion!) Anyway the supervisor said "no, they are the same colour, it's just the light coming through the bathroom window. .. When you move in you'll see it at different times of day etc etc." Well, when we moved in we certainly saw it was "different" at different times of day- plumber had "matched" a white spout to almond ivory taps....! This example is outdated now, but honestly, go through it all with the same list you used at pre-start and check EVERYTHING....!!! The worst thing you can do is sign a building contract without a pre contract review. Over the years many people have come to me with disputes where they just signed… 0 5589 We've had the offer of a short term tenant whilst waiting for CDC/DA home approval and demolition for our knock down rebuild. It would achieve a pretty low rent as it's… 0 9849 The fastest thing a builder will do is bank your cheque, those systems work perfectly with lightning speed, everything else is slow burn. Just the way it is. 1 5607 |
