Hi, new to the forums and to building in general.
We are looking to buy a decent size block (2000sqm+) in Beckhenham, and wanted to put up a main house but also a couple of granny flats for relatives and the late teenage kids who won't ever leave.
From what I have read, there are really harsh rstrictions on building anything more than the main house. We really had a vision of keeping the family together, but this doesn't seem possible.
In the end, we were looking at the main house, plus 3 little 1 bedroom self contained cottage style houses, plus a shed. There is no question of room on the property, and its layout suits this no worries (it's got a long entrance area, but the bulk of the property is buried behind other blocks.
I am hoping anyone who has been through something like this before can give some advice, before we make the move and then find we can't do it.
Thanks,
Darren.
