Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 02, 2012 2:46 pm I am about to do some minor outdoor renovations using Hebel / AAC blocks. This will include outdoor seating, garden edging and fence pillars. Anyone got advice or comments on using these blocks? And would I need to water proof the blocks where a garden will be behind it? Thanks Ray Re: Hebel / AAC 2May 02, 2012 3:51 pm If you are using blocks as a retaining wall you will need to make sure it is properly designed. You will need to put drainage behind it and waterproof it The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Hebel / AAC 4May 03, 2012 12:43 pm My only concern with concrete block was the footings and infill. What footings would I require for pillars for a front (1200mm high) fence and a small (400mm high) garden wall. Also, do you need to fill the concrete block with concrete or can the voids be left as is? Thanks Ray Re: Hebel / AAC 5May 03, 2012 4:54 pm With block work (including Hebel) retaining walls you always need a good foundation. I would recommend you go and borrow a library book that includes something about building blockwork walls. The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get !
