Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 17, 2012 1:12 pm I have an older house which has canvas external awnings that can be rolled up. They kind of need to be replaced (the canvas material is very old and is beginning to tear, the rollers are rusty). I was wondering if anyone could recommend what I should replace them with? I am not overly keen to replace them with an identical system as they use rope to roll them in/out (this rope is pretty weak and frays/needs replacing often). Also maintaining them is a bit of a hassle (they are on a slope and pretty high up so getting on a ladder to tend to them is pretty precarious). Am looking for something that will primarily block out the summer heat but will still allow light to come in (don’t know if this is possible). Does anyone have any suggestions? 2 8297 Yes, get a builder, make sure he is experienced and a registered building practitioner 5 8935 Hi, we live in an area where the black soil is prone to a lot of movement.
