I am really confused about what to do. we live in a small three bedroon worker's cottage in Brisbane and have a younf bub with one more on the way. Our house is now far too small!! We are looking to renovate but have not decided on raising and building under or adding a storey on top. Our house is old (around 90 years) and a weatherboard but a couple of 'whole project' renovation companise have suggested building up? Total cost to add three bedrooms and a bathroon is around 130-150k. has anyone else had experience building up in a similar type of home, would raising and building under be less/more expensive. Thanks Re: Build up or Down?? Confused 2Aug 01, 2006 8:48 pm Hi,

It costs around $30k to raise and concrete underneath. If you wanted to do it in sections to make it more manageable , you could attend a owner builder course and become a owner builder. This way you could project manage the job yourself and co-ordinate tradesman. Hope this helps Cheers Shane Re: Build up or Down??
