Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 15, 2012 12:59 pm Got some quotes from the security door installers here in PERTH Quote on: Aluminum Clear Screen [incl Subframe, Triple lock] : $729, $750 Quote on: Stainless Steel screen [incl Subframe, Triple lock] : $925, $909, $955 Quote on: Diamond Grill screen [incl subframe, Triple lock] {least fav}: $518 $600 and $695 [one way vision] Would like to know if the prices are OK or is there still possible for lower price. I have seen some decorative screen doors at bunnings for <$400 but i'm not a handy man when comes to DIY Any suggestions pls Re: HELP - Security Door [cost] 2Apr 15, 2012 1:17 pm Hi, I am a handyman, literally. I wouldn't but a security door from a hardware unless I was building the door frame to fit the door. The thing with getting a made to measure door is its exactly that. If you have a slight bow in your door frame which most do, this can be allowed for when the door is made. As for the prices, having got 3 quotes as it appears you have I think it's just a case of dealing with the one you feel most comfortable with. Cheers Re: HELP - Security Door [cost] 3Apr 15, 2012 1:52 pm My hinged aluminium, triple locked, security doors with the slightly smaller diamond grill ( think its called shark amplimesh) with one way vision, keyed alike and fitted cost $600 about 18 months ago. The slider cost around $630. They replaced some cheap and nasty crap the previous owner had installed. Usually its not every day one buys these doors so I went with the best Mgilla is correct about them being made to measure as one of my door jambs was tapered. I think the doors Bunnings sell are steel, which Ive seen rust after a year or two. Arfur HELP - Security Door [cost] 4Apr 16, 2012 10:17 am I am SA but was quoted $425 for diamond grill with paw proof mesh or one way mesh with a triple lock, $620 for a fancy triple lock and $500 for a sliding door with diamond grill paw proof mesh and single lock, all keyed alike.
