Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 31, 2012 8:07 pm Hi All, I am a new member and I just wanted to know if anyone is considering or building their first home in Highlands - Craigieburn. Any kind of feedback on builders, prices to expect for a 350 sq land with 18 sq house, highlands as a place and anyother suggestions to help us along the way. Thanks. Re: Considering new home in Highlands -craigieburn 3Mar 31, 2012 9:47 pm I am currently going through contracts and have bought a lot in Highlands (Malcolm Creek). I'd be curious to know where you're specifically looking if you'd be willing to divulge via PM (who knows, we could be neighbours). The houses I looked at were mostly in the 19-21sq range. Houses in the newer areas don't have the same design requirements. Estate requirements were a fair bit less than in Aston - I can't recall off the top of my head but I think about $12k less for a house that size. Expect prices they actually can provide to be a fair bit less than what's listed on houseandlandfinder - prices I was offered for various blocks in the same size you've listed were between $180k and $195k, each had pros and cons. Initially seeing only the listed prices on hlf caused me to almost go and buy in Aston. If I'd been paying those list prices, I would have. After site costs on a Hen. Mode 3 I was looking at just over 200k; I'm building a Met. Delta 21 which is under 200k, BUT, some issues with my site put site costs at around $20k all said. Re: Considering new home in Highlands -craigieburn 4Mar 31, 2012 11:44 pm Thanks cmhamilton n akashra... I was hoping for feedback on highlands and what peoples perspective is on this estate.. I am also considering Truganina and wondering if anyone is in the same boat and what factors are being considered for choosing between highlands and truganina. Akashra, I am looking at Malcom creek as well.. I think the lots are close to the proposed sporting facility and off grand blvd. If anyone else is looking for first homes in northern and western areas it would be great to have some more feedback on which areas areas are being considered and why? Re: Considering new home in Highlands -craigieburn 5Apr 01, 2012 9:17 am Truganina will be far more expensive than Malcolm Creek. Re: Considering new home in Highlands -craigieburn 6Apr 01, 2012 12:29 pm Oh, and as I've just discovered, the new Stocklands promo is them tripling the FHOB. That means the total is $46k. That applies to both Highlands (Craigieburn) and their Cranbourne estates, plus one or two others. Building a Delta 21 at Craigieburn - http://homeofzero.blogspot.com.au/ Deposit: 26/02. Re: Considering new home in Highlands -craigieburn 7Apr 01, 2012 11:43 pm Thanks akashra, was at truganina today and leaning towards it bcoz of the proximity to the city. Yes it is more expensive and I guess if I struggle to finance the next logical option would be highlands. Personally I like highlands, looks like a nice place to live and is a lot better than the west. Only drawback is the distance from CBD! In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
