I have just replaced some broken transparent plastic panels on a pool fence with 4.5mm thick acrylic sheeting cut to size. I used a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade to make some cutouts for the hinges. All went well, no problems.
I wanted to save the old broken panels for possible future use and tried to cut off the jagged edges. However, on cutting the first sheet with a jigsaw so much heat was generated that the plastic melted and clogged the teeth of the blade and the result was totally unsatisfactory. Obviously it is a different material although it looks the same.
Can anyone please advise how I can make the cuts successfully?
