Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 26, 2008 8:54 am We have a full length rear verandah that we have enclosed half of with PVC cafe blinds at one end (there is a spa there and it cuts the wind out)..
We want to take out the blinds on the end and build a solid wall there instead of the blind. I want to know if it is something I can be doing myself (I am apt at wielding a saw and hammer), and what sort of materials would be best considering it is outdoors (thinking maybe the cement cladding) Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Re: Enclosing a rear verandah - how and what to use 2Feb 26, 2008 9:03 am You're on the right track there reidy,
Also look at iron if it suit - can't remeber whats in the fence, and also some of the see through laserlite stuff to let soem light in to stop it becoming a dark dingy area. Depends on if it's summer or winter But you're right, that's why lining it and insulating may be required, a window in it, etc etc, you need to decide what you want it to be, then work out how you want to to enclose it. Do you need privacy through this wall, no ? Then maybe wall to roof lourves would be nice, open them and let the breeze through in summer, and close them to keep it out in winter. Work out what you want with the space first - then work out how to seal it off as you desire. Steve You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9979 Hi, I'll be starting on my verandah repair soon - replace ledger, rafters, roofing iron, flashing etc. (fascia board already done).
