Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 20, 2008 6:17 pm Hi all,
We have just moved into our house, and are now starting the fun stuff - garden, fence, yard etc etc. Husband and I are trying to decide what colour fence to put up, we are just going to go with a standard post and rail colourbond fence. It will come out from either side of the house, to the left and right of the house, level with the front, then back about 30m or so. Here is a pic of the house as it is now (it's currently minus the bullnose verandah, which we are doing ourselves, will be woodland grey, same as the roof). Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I want to have the fence woodland grey, just for something different, other half wants smooth cream. It's a matter of taste obviously, just trying to drum up some votes for my side!!!! If you have any other suggestions besides those two colours, be happy to hear them. Re: What colour fence??? 2Feb 21, 2008 12:38 pm Well tell hubby from me ….one vote on the Woodland Grey!!!! :z: ![]() I can see it there now; it will look great with the roof line! Then if you do a driveway….make it the cream colour to match the house. Nice house Spot!!!! ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: What colour fence??? 3Feb 21, 2008 2:41 pm Re: What colour fence??? 4Feb 21, 2008 3:05 pm i thought woodland grey straight away and matt's drawings just confirmed my thought. woodland grey is a much better look!
Helen Re: What colour fence??? 5Feb 21, 2008 7:35 pm Definitely woodland grey. I think it will make your plants the feature, instead of the fence itself. We're going to do something similar with our fences too. Also remember the darker colour won't show as much dirt. ![]() ![]() Good Luck!!! ![]() ![]() Re: What colour fence??? 6Feb 21, 2008 9:34 pm Thanks!!!
Right answer everyone!!!! Its actually a 10 acre block, but obviously won't be fencing the whole thing! It will actually go back behind the house, (I didn't explain that bit very well) and the driveway (about 100m long) will be all gravel (and dust at the moment!). I'm not as clever as Matt, so don't laugh at my photoshopping - but it will look kind of like this. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I just told the other half the Homeone forum colour verdict - was not happy - but as I said - you can't argue with experts!!! Re: What colour fence??? 7Feb 22, 2008 11:56 am I like cream - with the trim in woodland grey. Sorry!!!!!!!! Re: What colour fence??? 8Feb 22, 2008 12:07 pm ![]() Thanks!!! Right answer everyone!!!! Thanks, we love it too, the photo doesn't really do it justice. It's quite modern inside, but I'm a farm girl and we wanted the oustide to look like an old farm house that had been there forever, not something newly built, especially with the acerage. Will look a million times better when it has a bullnose verandah - do you think Mr Photoshop could organise one of them for me? ![]() And can I get the votes for smooth cream deleted please!!! ![]() Re: What colour fence??? 12Feb 22, 2008 2:25 pm Keewee and Cookie.
The classic cream (IMO) is way to start against the sandstone colour of the house. I agree that a "beigey" colour could look nice but not this colour. I adjusted both colours to a true representation (including allowing for the overcast light) and there fore it is what the colour would closely resemble. Here is your idea: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It is better but IMO still not great! Re: What colour fence??? 14Feb 22, 2008 5:41 pm I reckon the green trees, shrubs and plants will look better against a cream fence.
Re: What colour fence??? 16Feb 22, 2008 8:42 pm Hi Spot, just a thought but have you considered colorbond paperbark for the fence?
