Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 19, 2012 4:26 pm Hi guys, Looking at making a home theatre but none of the rooms in the house are suitable and i have no garage but plenty of backyard space, is it possible to put a colourbond shed like this http://www.bestsheds.com.au/joomla/inde ... le-garages and gyprock the inside walls and ceiling and also add insulation and sound deadening in the walls and ceiling ? The reason i am looking at this option it looks the cheapest way for me as im on a budget. I do have a double carport with concrete slab and got quotes to build a blueboard and gyprock room but cheapest was $22,000. Thanks for any help. Re: Home theatre 3Feb 09, 2012 11:08 pm There is a home theater section on this forum I would be worried about echo within a shed, it could get expensive . In my build the main room / TV room is the closest I will have to "home theater" it will just be good quality speakers & a TV...(not a real theater) Re: Home theatre 4Feb 11, 2012 11:17 am I would think you would also have to contact your local council to find out what permits are required to erect such a building. And don't forget to factor in the costs of supplying electricity etc to the listed price. Re: Home theatre 5Feb 11, 2012 11:53 am Hi There, May want to consider making the lounge dual purpose and spend on decent block out, drop down screen and the kit that would have gone into the "shed" build. Years back I had a similar set up in a "Sun Room" which was basically an add-on colourbond arrangement with lots of windows. Acoustically treated the roof which was expensive, put heavy curtains up etc but it was freezing in winter and we could not afford heating and cooling. This time around I am having a dedicated room but presently I use a 7.1 system with blu ray and big (well big back then) flat screen. Still is nice to watch movies and doesnt upset the flow too much. ALso good because kids can use Wii and all the games etc. I think with a Shed build you will really start seeing the costs spiral..... Not sure this helps Cheers Mark We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds. That’s why we… 5 16289 go upvc window frames ensure insulation under colorbond. not just sarking, lighter color roof also not sure if you have seen this viewtopic.php?t=5823 last couple of pages… 4 110592 7 12028 |
