Laminated glass won't make any difference... double glazing (2 pieces of glass with air or gas in between) will stop 50% of conducted heat loss... what are you buying? Re: Double Glazed Windows - Is it worth doing? 6Jan 10, 2012 6:47 pm It certainly does sound fairly cheap. If it helps any, the window allowance for my home is $18,000 for 11 casement windows, and two triple pane glass doors. It doesn't include the roof windows, and the possible Velux cabriolet windows. The most common is the 6 star energy requirement and its the only way to get to it In my case I was 6.2 star with single glazed, I went double glazed because the windows look nicer (much nicer), I will save on heating/cooling, and you get a little more sound insulation in a double glazed window compared to single glazed. I paid more than 3K, I think if you did the calculations the money benefit would take quite a long time to work out. The bonaire website used to have a calculator for 3 star, 4 star and 5 star heating, the 5 star took nearly 10 years to pay off from memory over the 3 stars (I have no idea how accurate the calculation was, I would assume they would bias it towards the upgrade . Personally I did it because I want my house to be 7 star, and I liked the Ecoclassic windows better than Southern Star. I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known.
