Just a quick one.. is it possible to 'solar power' the entire house including all appliances, like fridge, heater, tv, etc.. do you reckon the capital cost would nt be justifiable investment? Mine is going to be 16sq town house. We are a couple. Do you think I should venture in this 'total solar solution? Pl any expert here could help Re: solar panels - are they worth it? 24Feb 25, 2012 10:41 am our builder put one on for our hot water service, it's mandatory in our estate. I can honestly say that it is great. I had the lowest gas bill this quarter that I have ever received . I was so shocked. Yes that's another thing.. do the solar panels come with default battery or we need to add this as extra cost? (I may hv sounded dumb here .. but just collecting info) I did visit the whirlpool site.. but that's like the superhighway for solar..cudnt understands a thing from there Re: solar panels - are they worth it? 27Feb 25, 2012 6:55 pm Quote: do the solar panels come with default battery or we need to add this as extra cost Most people are connected to the grid to get a return on the Kwhrs they feed back, reducing the electricity bills or even eliminating them. Any FIT goes toward making the system pay for itself. If you want batteries (several) to store your energy this would be an additional cost to you. Whirlpool is where most of us learnt about solar by studying the posts before having it installed. That way we were less likely to get involved with a questionable retailer using inferior gear. Its unfortunate you cant understand it, as what you require is outside my experience. Just beware >> some companies here are offering a higher FIT deal, but the way its been explained to me is you pay more for your system up front, and the companies doing it? Well you wouldn't normally give them a second look It would pay to go the the electricity retailer's websites or phone them and see what they pay for FIT etc, because there are questionable solar companies out there just waiting to relieve you of your money Arfur Re: solar panels - are they worth it? 32Feb 28, 2012 8:01 am Uncle Arfur Quote: in vic the FIT is about 60-66cents..
