Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 04, 2012 1:21 pm I've purchased a 1960's double brick house that the previous owner has had done with a limestone render. The render has a rolled mortar joint pattern. I'm not a huge fan of the look and was hoping someone could answer a couple of questions for me relating to how I can change the look of it. Firstly, would it be possible/advisable to try sanding back the render to remove the rolled mortar joint pattern? I've looked at some of the commercial products produced by Dulux that can be used to achieve a flatter finish (such as Dulux full cover texture), but it occurred to me that it might be cheaper to simple remove some of the existing render rather than adding another layer. Secondly, if I were to paint the render, what sort of preparation would be required? Do I need to do anything different compared to a normal cement render? Thanks New beginnings. You can wash over existing pavers with 10% solution of water and hydrochloric acid, then wash off. The acid will provide for required bond key with new concrete. 1 36968 0 9828 In Qld it is a requirement that a builder must have a cost breakdown, for building a home to the same specification, with the same inclusions and the same finish.
