It lays on the edge of my boundry to which I have 4 Stratco galvanised steel upright beams in the garden bed supporting my pergola. Will I have to do anything to the bottom of the upright beams as they will be surrounded by soil? Perhaps adding some additional coating to be sure? I agree that burying them in soil is like to reduce their life, but then I don't understand why using them in concrete is OK. Maybe cause the moisture can't get in?? Make sure you know for sure before you do anything.
