Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 06, 2011 3:58 pm I know that the Building Surveyor gives the owner a copy of Certificate of Occupancy at the end of the build but... 1) Does the Building Surveyor approve each stage of construction (i.e. base, frame, lock up, fixing, completion)? 2) If so, have you asked for a copy of every approval before you make progress payment? You see, my frame stage has just finished (according to my builder anyway), and they have already sent me the progress payment request, but my building consultant found a structural issue. Surely the Building Surveyor could not have issued approval for the Frame Stage if there were structural issues? I have asked my builder to show me proof that the Building Surveyor has indeed approved the Frame Stage, but my builder kept ignoring my requests. 13-08 Moved in 13-05 Build restart 13-04 VMIA compensation 12-08 Builder liquidation 12-03 Fixing 11-12 Lockup 11-11 Frame 11-09 Slab 11-09 Start 11-07 Contract 10-11 2K deposit 10-06 Titled land Re: Building Surveyor proof of approval at each stage? 2Nov 06, 2011 8:48 pm The surveyor only have four inspections. Foundation, steel, Frame then completion. It will be a waste of time asking for what your asking. Surveyors dont issue any proof until the end. This end cert indicates when the 4 stages viewed and passed. The surveyor doesn't check to see the quality and accuracy of work as such. So you slab and our frame can be out of square yet it can still legally pass. Not unless you have managed to put it as a special condition into the contract somehow. 1 6157 Have look at your house plans and you will probably find that brick articulation joint has been missed.
