For just under $270,000 we built the Regal. The base price of this home was originally $205,000 + 5,000 for siteworks. We then added the following: We made the alfresco on the original plan a games room We added an alfresco to the side of the house We made the vanities bigger We upgraded the toilets, the basins, the taps to mixers throughout We added 31 course ceilings throughout We added overhead cupboards and pot drawers to kitchen We upgraded the kitchen to gloss polytec cupboards We added a 1790mm spa bath hith heat pump and 12 jets We made all BIR's doubles with mirrored sliders We had concrete done all around the house We upgraded all the doors in the house We added a gas log effect fireplace 3 Phase power Upgraded the basic lighting and power point plan The same tradesmen that built our place worked on the Webb Brown Neaves house around the corner and we are wrapped with the quality. Just like any builder just make regular check ups at the house and speak up if you are not happy with anything. Cheers Thanks for your reply, but what I want to know is whether it's worth upgrading or go with the more expensive builder from the beginning. I understand that you can spec up "Homebuyers" build that worth $120,000 up to $250,000 but the quality still going to be **it. The main point of my question: are you better off with less inclusions from APG/WBH/Summit/RedInk than with "everything under the sun" from "Homebuyers" for the same amount of money... Re: Home Design in Perth for $250,000 5Nov 01, 2011 8:56 pm The main point of my question: are you better off with less inclusions from APG/WBH/Summit/RedInk than with "everything under the sun" from "Homebuyers" for the same amount of money... My answer is NO! Absolutely not. You can build with a more expensive builder and you will get the same quality as the homebuyers house. All the tradesmen they use are the same. The kitchens all come out of the same factory. What you are paying the extra for is the additional structural features ie 31c ceilings, recesses, windows, the facade and mainly the specification is what determines price. Price has no bearing on quality of workmanship. It depends on your tradesmen and if you get a good supervisor. The same tradesmen will build your house. If you build a Homebuyers house the same guy that does your ceiling is the same guy that does the Webb Brown house round the corner. Quality does not come into it. The reason why a Webb Brown house is more expensive is because its all inclusive and you get a choice of whatever you want. It has everything in it and everything is pretty much upgraded. Price does not guarantee a quality build. Where there is a difference is in the following: With Celebrations they will not let you upgrade the bathroom floor tiles larger than 200x200mm. Dales will at a cost however WBN its all included in the price. Homebuyers from memory do not do stone benchtops (correct me if I am wrong here) Celebrations allow you to have a stone benchtop. However not one that is thick and they will not allow you to have an undermount sink or waterfall ends. With Dales you can get the stone at any thickness for a cost, an undermount sink and waterfall ends at a cost however with WBN you get the undermount standard as you have paid for an all inclusive package. Celebrations will not do an aggregate driveway. Dales will for a cost. It may be included with the WBN home. Celebrations do not do soakwells. Dales do. I hope this makes sense. However dont believe the bull they spin you when you go through the displays. A brickie does not care what you spent on the house. If he is going to do a crooked wall he will do it on a 300K house as well as a 150K house if he can get away with it. (I am not saying brickies are bad this is an example only) If you can get a house will all the works for 250K why would you pay more for less stuff when its the same people building your house?? The workmanship will be the same. Personally i would go to a smaller builder, who owns the company and supervises the build. Dan That sucks! Hope it all works out.
