We are on the home stretch after 3 years owner building, planning, organising and we hope to be in by xmas. If not so be it..we want our house finished before we move in...
We have had a clash between the painter and the chippie, the chippie isn't finished his job yet, and the painter started this week and was only supposed to paint inside the cupboards and prime the rest, but hes started undercoating the ceilings etc...
We were not here this week so we have come home to an upset carpenter, who works weekends here, who is not finished and now feels pushed. Something we were really trying to avoid. Our house is a 550 sq m Queenslander and the carpenter is brilliant, his work is outstanding and he is very "protective" of what he does....he wants to do a final sand and check before the painter goes any further.
He is doing chair and pic rails, nosing under the windows, vj panels which are done, fretwork and ceiling roses, very traditional so I can see where he is coming from.
I've phoned the painter and put him off for another 2 weeks, and now isn't happy, God help me get through the final few weeks....
Any similiar stories of tradies etc and can you offer any advice/sympathy lol
