The guy on the excavator found some tree roots and instead of getting off and investigating he ripped all the roots out. Problem was, they were mango tree roots which have quite a long root system. The roots were apparently wrapped around the sewer pipes. And yep, you guessed it the excavator ripped out the sewer line. At the time, the excavator admitted to me that it was the roots that crushed it. I cant help but think that with a little more care the situation may have been avoided. Sydney Water had to come to fix the problem immediately as it was the street sewer line and was now exposed Today I received a bill from Sydney Water for $1900. Surely my building company insurance would pay for this? What are your thoughts? Either way if he did hire someone or not its up to him to organize the payment or deal with working out who will pay. It certainly shouldn't be you. Hi everyone, Looking for some advise.
