Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 06, 2011 4:01 pm Hey, Would appreciate some help if anyone can give me some ideas... A client wants to have skirting boards but doesn't want standard as dust is an issue for them. We have discussed putting on the skirting flush with the frame and providing a 10mm shadow line along the top to the plasterboard. We also suggested aluminium skirting plus a variety of different profiles that minimise the dust collection along the top of the board. Thought I would throw this out into the forum to see if any one else has ideas or come across this issue? The problem for them is that dust is a health issue and they are looking for a good quality product that doesn't look cheap and nasty. Any help much appreciated Cheers Re: Good Old Skirting 2Sep 06, 2011 4:08 pm how about some of these Post-War style archs from Australian Moulding Co? http://www.australianmoulding.com/20.htm Re: Good Old Skirting 3Sep 06, 2011 4:09 pm I have seen a wall once with no skirting and the owner just painted a section on the bottom a different colour to represent skirting. looked pretty good actually, although defeating the point of skirting to protect the wall from knocks and scrapes from vacums and brooms. Re: Good Old Skirting 5Sep 06, 2011 9:55 pm In hospitals I have seen a vinyl type strip that acts as a skirting, it obviously sits flush against the wall so it doesn't collect dust & I imagine it would be easy to clean. If you plaster before installing the finished floors, the plaster would need to run below ffl, so floors would then butt-up to the plasterboard. If flooring is tiles you could run a silicon expansion joint (matching the grout) to the plaster or if floor boards run them right up to the plaster. It sure means more precision work but should look good. Joe Apologies for the delay in getting back to you. If you haven't sorted this already you need to caulk this gap. Not sure where you are but if you are in Sydney I can… 5 4324 7 2988 4 6006 |
