Hi
We are moving from Canberra into an apartment in Fitzroy, Victoria in a couple of months. I'd like to be able to take a couple of large pot plants to put on the concrete balconies on the 3rd floor. The balconies are each about 1.5m x 5m.
I've been trying to get an indication from the Victorian Building Commission as to the maximum weight that these concrete balconies should be engineered to take (building is 10 years old). All I've had in response though is a suggestion to get a structural engineer to inspect them. This isn't possible as we won't have the opportunity to do this before we have to decide whether to take the pots or not.
Anyone have any ideas about who else I can contact, or give me a reference (I gather that AS 1170.1 has something to say about it but I'm not too technically savvy as far as engineering is concerned).
Thanks
