Hi,
I was hoping that someone could help identify a type of board behind the plasterboard wall.
I have a two storey house about 14 years old. Brick veneer.
I was checking the data outlet installed by the previous owner and after removing the wall outlet I noticed a light brown coloured board behind the plasterboard wall. The outside is brick wall and the installation is such that we have the brick wall outside then this brown coloured board, then the timber stud then the plasterboard wall inside.
I removed other power/TV outlets around the house on the ground floor and only certain part of the external wall has this, and certainly no internal partition wall. The external wall on the first floor has not this type of board.
I noticed that the hole made through this board for the data cable it has about 5-6mm thick and the surface is not smooth , and where the hole was punctured, the surface seems like cardboard like.
I have asked someone I knew from work and he guessed that it might bracing board, but usually they use plywood board, which I can tell easily. But this is definitely not ply. He is not sure.
Can someone please help with this? I have photos but i cannot attached to this post. It did not work when I tried to attach photos. how do you do it ?
May thanks for your help
Steve
