Where are you building though? Is it an up market area. When they itemize every single thing they are going to do, this means they are trying to justify what they are charging. I am surprised he doesn't have an allocation for toilet time Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 3Aug 04, 2011 11:03 am I gather your budget for the building will be a substantial sum. This guy is doing a lot of work for his fee. i would say that if the project is in a heritage area, and this guy knows his stuff, then the fee he is quoting you is very reasonable. If you get a good design and documents to start with, it will save you many times over in the long run. m.h. Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 4Aug 04, 2011 11:22 am a few years ago i built. i paid 1600 for working drawings. 120 for energy report, 270 for engineers report. 1600 for surveyor But this was for a fresh new house, and she had done 9 out of ten things listed above. Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 5Aug 04, 2011 5:17 pm Thanks for checking it out everyone.....Its a tiny (block in a very nice area. Has heritage & flood plane overlay & under 300sq restrictions. Getting a town planner to help push it through and their costs havent even been added in yet. Building a small 3 bed townhouse. My budget is small. Going owner builder. Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 6Aug 04, 2011 5:21 pm Yeah buddy its quite a things you have to do here. The budget is going to be steep with all this and also the expenses on the labor. Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 7Aug 04, 2011 5:40 pm Jeremyheyes Yeah buddy its quite a things you have to do here. The budget is going to be steep with all this and also the expenses on the labor. Its more work than your normal run of mill block....so im trying to justify his price. But if im getting ripped of Im hoping someone can say yes or no. I just want to be paying a fair price. Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 8Aug 05, 2011 1:08 am B bOy, It all comes down to the quality of the design and the documents and how long you think it will take him. If its done in a week, unless hes got a sweatshop out the back working 24/7 you may be paying too much. I think its a fair price for the type of project it is. It sounds like some consuming processess involved and likey to take 2-3 months. Most importantly as an owner builder you want the documents to be sharp, some good detail, well setout dimensions and notations. this gives you a clear scope to contractors when pricing it up. If you get all that for that price you will save double the amount when the tradies start chewing into your wallet. good luck with the project architect Re: My Draftsman quote - please view! 9Aug 05, 2011 8:14 am From my view point it looks like you are getting a lot of drawings done also. If you had to pay that much for a standard set of plans (floor, electrical, elevations, basic facade and site plan) then I would say yes too much. But this looks very involved as mentioned above, I think the only way to find out if its too high wold be get another quote. I was being kind to the builder. With the amount charged for the upgrade the builder is probably charging closer to 100% margin. There are a few variables as I… 5 14325 hey there! 😊 so, it’s kinda common for standard drawer depths to be around 500mm since most cabinets use this size to fit the usual runners… 3 20922 I had 28m2 of engineered pavers laid six months back and it was difficult to find someone not taking the pi$$. Internet suggested it should be $85-100/m2 to lay them.… 3 12411 |
