Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 23, 2011 9:07 pm Hello All, I have decided to build two investment properties in WA through a small builder. This builder has no drafting facilities like the majors and outsources it to a local drafting company to do full designs prior to the builder doing a complete job costing. The draftsman has quoted me $4500 for a complete set of drawings for 2 houses (1 small 3 x 2 and 1 large 4 x 2, both single storey) is this an excessive cost? it doesnt seem right to me? Re: Costs of Building Plans 2Jul 23, 2011 9:44 pm Our plans where going to cost us between $3000-3500 for full plans then an extra $350.00 for a contour survey. I was told that usually for a standard design the cost should be around 1 to 2% of build cost. So to me $4500 for two designs sounds reasonable. Some drafty's will charge on an hourly rate others charge a one off fee. It just depends of what works best for you Re: Costs of Building Plans 3Jul 25, 2011 9:40 pm The cost should relate to the size, I paid over 2K but that was a 24.7 square house, along with an energy report, soil test and anything else required to provide a quote on the build. Re: Costs of Building Plans 5Jul 26, 2011 8:32 pm Our plans, working drawings, engineering, council permits etc etc were $18k. Large storage closet would be more functional. 2 6882 Ask the council if there is a chance of getting build over easement exemption. Sometimes easements are unused and 24cm is not all that much. Good luck. And yes any builder… 2 13723 |
