Hi folks
Down the track, we have plans to extend (either up or out, not sure yet). But meanwhile, my mind is always ticking over with ideas and options and I like to get the idea straight in my head so we can start researching costs etc.
One of our options is to extend our main bedroom out the front (which we love the idea of because we have quite a bit of space out the front that we don't particularly use/need) and add an ensuite to the front (and turn our current ensuite into an extended WIR or a guest bathroom - TBD).
It's an old (renovated) weatherboard house.
We would probably extend the entire front of the house - not just the space required for the ensuite.
The ensuite extension itself would only take up about 1/4 of the front of the house, next to the ensuite we would have an alcove off our main bedroom (maybe turned into a little sitting room or study nook or something) and then the front living room is on the other side of the house.
Clearly windows and facade would be tricky for an ensuite at the front, but given the other rooms could have windows as normal, I'm sure with some clever planning and design, the view from the front/outside wouldn't be too much of an issue and wouldn't look like a bathroom tacked on.
I am mainly concerned with the internal floor plan and if having the ensuite at the front might just feel funny or be a put off to prospective buyers should we ever decide to sell.
Does anyone else have their ensuite at the front of the house - or seen them like this? Does it feel odd? (I haven't stepped into display home in years, maybe it's not that uncommon?????)
Thanks for any input.
