Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 20, 2011 9:13 pm Hi All Just after some recommendations of good design Software for drawing up house plans. Nothing tooooo complex of course but something we can get some idea's down before heading to the drafty. Thanks for your help Re: Plan Software 2Jun 22, 2011 8:42 pm Two option. 1. Sketch up. which is free on the internet, but will take time to learn and understand. 2. Piece of paper, ruler, a pencil and some pens...plus all your ideas. Just make sure you do draw to a scale. A3 sheets of graph paper is a good idea. If you find a drafting supply company get a role of the yellow or white sketch paper. You will spend more time learning the programme and understanding how to get it to do what you want, rather than think about your ideas. But if you are really good with computers give sketch up a go. Once you have drawn your house up in 3D you can load it onto Google Earth. So once you've drawn the plans and get a rough idea what it looks like, you can't do anymore... I would also consider pen/paper... Re: Plan Software 4Jun 24, 2011 10:55 am Thanks for your responses, much appreciated. I might just stick with a pencil and paper, the drafty will just need deal with my scribbles though no doubt they are probably used to that from clients. Cant wait to start putting this house together Re: Plan Software 5Jun 24, 2011 12:18 pm Ive been using Sweet Home 3d, its free There are some fancier ones around, but this one is more precise in my opinion because it doesnt auto adjust your walls to keep things square etc. Re: Plan Software 7Jun 30, 2011 6:42 pm Sketchup does have a learning curve, they're are lots of good tutorials on the website.
