Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 16, 2011 3:40 pm Hi All, I am looking for some advice on what I can do if a supposedly "qualified" stonemason business, accepts my money for a small vanity top and now refuses to delivery the product. I have requested the delivery of the bench top or alternatively to return my money but he refuses to do either? What are my options? Re: Help - What to do if a Stonemason doesn't deliver bencht 4Jun 16, 2011 9:01 pm The company services Sydney from northern NSW and was going to deliver it to me. The round trip up and back would probably be more expensive then the stone and without the appropriate equipment it may be damaged in transit. Yes, I have the written correspondance from them and bank transfer receipts for the payment. Call them and see what they say.
Edited for typo Help - What to do if a Stonemason doesn't deliver benchtop 6Jun 16, 2011 9:06 pm Then put your request in writing to them - either email with a notification response or by registered mail. Tell them in plain English what you expect and give them a timeframe ie 10 working days etc. Notify them that should this not be completed you will take them to Dept of Fair Trading. Normally this will either get them to complete or alternatively tell you why they won't complete the job. Some things are worth waiting for. Kyton: About 2 weeks ago, I sent a letter of demand to him similar to what you have suggested. He indicated that he would refund the money but it has now been a week and nothing in my bank account. I have written to him 3 times since and no response. I guess the next step is Dept of Fair Trading for both NSW and QLD as they service both area's. Not sure why he would want this type of record for a relatively small amount of money, especially when there is evidence of my payment to him? Guess it is warning for others to be careful who they deal with especially if the stone is being sold via online channels and if delivery is required! Re: Help - What to do if a Stonemason doesn't deliver bencht 8Jun 17, 2011 10:18 am Case logged with the Dept Fair Trading, they will now pursue as a simple open and shut case. Funny, dealing with this company implied good [edited]. Hi Courtney The mitred edges are glued up with epoxy so those little holes and gaps are areas that weren't filled correctly.
