Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 15, 2011 10:49 pm What are you most looking forward to or were looking forward to when you move/d in to your new home? For me there are two smallish things I am over excited about and they are: 1. Flick mixers everywhere. Where I have lived for the past 10 years has normal taps - I hate it especially in the shower. It takes so long for the water to be adjusted to a good temp. 2. Shelves and drawers in bedroom robes. Re: What are you most looking forward to? 8Jun 16, 2011 9:28 am I can make things permanent around my house instead of having things "semi-permanent" in the houses I have been living in / renovating (like hanging my dart board, pictures, photos etc). Oh, and not living in a semi building site constantly! Re: What are you most looking forward to? 9Jun 16, 2011 10:32 am Having data cable to every room, having a garage to park the cars in (have had break-ins and petrol syphoned on many occasion), having our own space yet again! Having more rooms than we ever have had before! Having a dedicated study, and a dedicated tv room. And last but not least, having a seaside lifestyle within 15 minutes walk of the beach for me, the missus and the Dog-son to enjoy! An ensuite A Linen closet! A dishwasher Ducted Heat/Refridge Cool Kitchen space Separate living areas A spare bedroom for guests that wasn't our study! Networked rooms in our house (we have lots of computers and gadgets) A Garage with a remote on the door/access to the house! We did move from a 20 year old 12.5sq unit to a 36sq house!!! Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: What are you most looking forward to? 14Jun 16, 2011 12:11 pm PUPPIES!! And being able to entertain guests and have a party - apartments arent great for that, and its not fair/nice for your guests to have to pay for parking on the street whenever they want to come see you Re: What are you most looking forward to? 15Jun 16, 2011 12:13 pm I shared/boarded at a house with my boyfriends aunt for a couple of years after moving out of home. So for me, it was definitely having the ability to have the WHOLE house to myself, and to be able to buy new stuff, just for me to use. (I know, very self-centered, think I'm showing my age now! ) I also love having the kitchen to myself, to cook whatever I please, and whenever I please. For my partner, he was just desperate to get out from his parents place, and to be able to entertain until whatever time he pleases. I'm now looking forward to entertaining in summer, especially knowing that our decking and landscaping are half way finished! But I still find it nerve-racking to decorate 'permanently'. Still can't decide on artwork to hang, and feature wall colours... Slowly, slowly Re: What are you most looking forward to? 17Jun 16, 2011 4:00 pm having my own space & being able to cook and wash whenever I want! Re: What are you most looking forward to? 18Jun 16, 2011 4:54 pm kb46 Not having the kitchen bench be the cooking prep area Does this not make sense to any one else? Where exactly do you want to prep food? In a living space or maybe the attic? Re: What are you most looking forward to? 19Jun 16, 2011 7:59 pm 1. Having a bedroom for each child 2. Having BIR's ( Very very excited about these LOL ) 3. Our ''adults only'' lounge 4. Being able to start up my family daycare business Re: What are you most looking forward to? 20Jun 16, 2011 10:15 pm More benchspace in the kitchen! But every day atm when I look at my old wooden wardrobe [which is antique, lovely but so not designed for modern day clothes]] which doors dont even shut properly so I see my clothes spilling out...yes every single day I look forward most to having built in robes!Bring it on. cant wait for that. wish we could just fast forward to christmas when hopefully we'll be all moved in. Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 3991 The worst thing you can do is sign a building contract without a pre contract review.
