Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 15, 2011 10:46 pm Hello have been viewing here for a while but never had anything to post I have decided to build the wife a backyard craft studio under penrith councils new rulings of no planning permission needed for dwellings that are under 20sqm under 3m in height 900mm off boundaries and build to relative building codes im too build the floor structure and a carpenter relative will be back in aus later in the year to do the walls roof etc my basic plan is a floor based on 200 x 50mm h4 treated f7 grade timber with the dimensions of 4.2m x 3.6m all pretty straight forward and a builder friend has drawn up a plan 450mm centers double bearers at each end etc my main concern is the pier type to use, im considering 2 beser blocks side by side 2-3 deep dug down into the ground roughly finishing at ground level compacted gravel at the bottom and then filled with concrete is there a better option ? and how would i fix the house to the pier ? thanks in advance for any help Re: What type of pier for backyard office 2Jun 15, 2011 11:37 pm Rather than use besser blocks its much better to just dig a hole down to the depth of your existing foundation and then fill the whole thing up with concrete to ground level.
