He has left me with a very peculiar looking boundary. The first half is the side of his new sunken garage - this part of the boundary is built out of bessa bricks which he intended to attach pine palings to, having informed me that this was his right as he was only responsible for providing a fence similar to the previous paling fence. This wall is therefore recessed to accommodate pine palings. When I objected to the "stuck on palings" approach he has kindly rendered the wall but it is still recessed - it looks weird - and it has a 10 cm unrendered base where he has put waterproofing materal for his garage so that the render sticks out in chunks and the base cannot be made to look like the rest of the wall. The next part of the fence is a rendered brick house wall he has built on the boundary. This has a strange sharp cavity area where the house wall adjoins to the garage wall. He informed today that the remainder of the fence from the house wall to the end of the property will be a replacement of the existing paling fence which is fair enough but apparently it will protrude some 6-8 cm out from the house wall. So we have rendered bessa brick recessed wall sitting on some tacky looking unpaintable substance with a very irregular join to a high rendered brick wall to be adjoined to a protruding paling fence. This is the cheapest version for him but surely i have a right to some aesthetic outcome What do you think? Re: Fence problems 2Jun 12, 2011 7:33 am It does sound odd. He has the right to build right up to the boundary? That doesn't sound right to begin with. This site may help - I remember reading about how Victoria was way ahead of the rest of the country in trying to solve neighbourhood disputes: http://www.justice.vic.gov.au/wps/wcm/c ... /Disputes/ Good luck and let us know how it goes. Re: Fence problems 3Jun 12, 2011 10:08 am I can see his position. He was going to have one line of paling fencing with the block wall up close to it on his side. Now you dont want the palings there he has left the recessed wall and rendered it when I think he didnt have to. Why not plant a few shrubs to hide the lower section and recess? Arfur I am not a brick expert, but rendering would be 1 option, it would be costly to do the entire house though.... 2 6672 Hi all, has anyone been ask to do the weeds in their property while in the middle of build?
