Re: 3 phase electric instant hot water Vs Heat Pump 5Jun 06, 2011 9:41 am Also known as "flow through" heaters - these are quite common in Europe where lots of people live in small units and don't have space for individual storage hot water heaters. I think they are a fantastic idea as you only heat the water you use at the time and you can have as much hot water for as long as you want. Add to this some of the temperature control features available and then you don't even have to waste energy heating water up only to mix it with cold water to cool it down to a temperature suitable for washing - makes a lot of sense.
