Is it possible to work as a part time Apprentice during weekends and study certificate IV in Building and Construction to become licence Builder? 3. Is there any other way of becoming Licence Builder? I asked simular questions here http://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47857 Re: Career change from IT to Builder? 24May 29, 2011 10:01 am With regard to the part time apprentice question, there are 2 things. You can do an apprenticeship without doing full time hours. The apprenticeship would, of course, take longer in year terms. You would need to contact the apprenticeship board to find out what is the minimum number of hours per week you have to do. The problem with doing it on the weekend would be finding a builder who works Saturday and Sunday. Without a builder prepared to take you on you can't do an apprenticeship Re: Career change from IT to Builder? 25Apr 15, 2012 9:11 pm I would sugest if your very passionate about this industry u get some hands on experience i have been in the industry as a qualified carpenter for the past fifteen years and personaly think people with no trade bckground have no buisness getting builders licenses. Im not saying dont do it just get some experience first so you dont end up like half the clueless muppets outhere destroying a great indusrty.
