Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 15, 2011 2:23 am Hi All I'm in the process of preparing to sign off for a new build, one (of the many) questions I've got is regards Termite management systems. (We havn't signed yet). In our building schedule it states: "H2 treated frame;Kordon to penetrations and 75mm slab edge visual" I emailed the builder's admin regarding this and she replied; "Yes the termite protection allowed in the building schedule is Kordon Termite Management." The 75mm slab visual edge apparently means that at all areas around the slab there is a visual slab edge of 7.5cm showing (to allow easy visual inspection at all times). My question is - is there any further querying or determination needed? Some others posts hinted to various grades of termite protection and coverage (ie just covering around penetrations vs across the whole slab etc). Many thanks for any input - with some more knowledge I'll be well armed to obtain further answers. Ta Mark Re: Termite Management - New Build - Questions 2Jun 28, 2011 12:21 am mgg ..... In our building schedule it states: "H2 treated frame;Kordon to penetrations and 75mm slab edge visual" Probably too late for you, but I've been looking into this too. As you're probably aware, your H2 timber is treated for termite resistance, but I'd ALSO be looking at getting the Kordon as a full under-slab membrane and not just for the penetrations. The 75mm slab edge just means that the builder will leave 75mm of your external slab visible so you can eyeball any attempted entry of the little buggers ! P_D . I guess when you talk to a builder who butters up everything to look very polished, you get to start believing… 7 17602 Yes, neither is termite damage that is not covered by your house insurance. 3 6586 4 1874 |
